Shaws return to Africa International University on January 3rd 2011
Lois and I will be leaving the US after our short leave here to return to our work at AIU on January 3rd (arriving) on January 4th. Besides teaching and engaging in the work of the Centre for World Christianity both of us will be involved in the groundbreaking of our new Leah Ngini Community Center and a fund raising climb of Kilimanjaro for the Community Center. More on that later!
Welcome to Shaws on safari
Mark and Lois Shaw are missionaries with Africa Inland Mission International serving at Africa International University in Nairobi, Kenya where they have lived and worked for 25 years. Shaws on Safari is the place for news regarding the Africa 2020 project of Mark and Lois Shaw. Africa 2020 is the date when our work in Africa will likely end and by which we hope to see two things happen:
1. To see a new generation of African men and women trained in leadership skills empowered by a gospel vision at Africa international university who will move into the areas of need on the continent and bear witness to the new creation in Jesus through ministries of evangelism, justice and beauty. This is primarily Mark's focus as director of the Centre for World Christianity and professor of christian history.
2. To see a new wave of north American men and women (particularly women) be inspired to invest in partnership with African projects (micro-enterprise, ministries of various kinds) to help change the African realities of poverty, disease and hopelessness and bear witness to the new creation. This is primarily Lois's emphasis through her work in development and in WoW Safaris.
We will also be posting items of a more personal nature-- grandkids, family events, book notes, cultural critique and stories about Africa. You will find copies of our newsletters and various mailings here as well not to mention pictures of our African journey. Thanks for your interest and come back and visit frequently.
